Jeremy Reynolds, 22 of Ravenna is the son of Tommy and Betty (Persino) Reynolds.  He is a 2006 Graduate of Southeast High School and was pursuing his degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Akron where he also worked in the Maintenance Department.
Jeremy was seriously injured in a car accident December 27, 2009 when the car he was driving went off the road and struck a tree.  Jeremy and his two cousins were on their way home after a night of playing video games at a friend’s house.  This was a true accident there were no drugs or alcohol involved. Everyone was wearing their seatbelts.
Jeremy suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury, which has left him unable to walk on his own, eat or communicate; he also suffered Multiple Facial Fractures.
Jeremy was life-lifted to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown where he spent 27 days in the SICU Unit.  He underwent surgery to repair the multiple facial fractures.  Upon discharge from St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Jeremy was transferred to Regency Hospital of Ravenna, and remained there for 25 days.  He was then transferred to Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Institute in Cuyahoga Falls for acute rehabilitation; he remained there for 33 days. His progression at that time was not as fast as anticipated so he was transferred to The Woodlands at Robinson in Ravenna, after 104 days at the Woodlands, and numerous hours of therapy, his progression was such that it was decided that he was ready for more acute rehab so he was transferred back to Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Institute in Cuyahoga Falls.  His progression is coming, but slow.   Upon discharge from Edwin Shaw, he will go back to The Woodlands at Robinson in Ravenna for more long term therapy.   He continues to make progress, but he has a very long journey ahead.    His therapies will include Physical, Occupational, Speech, and Recreation.
Funds raised from the benefit will be used for Medical expenses and other costs associated with Physical, Speech and other therapies, travel and other financial expenses.
Anyone wishing to donate items for either the live auction or the Chinese Auction should contact Tommy or Betty Reynolds at 330-358-2071 to arrange for delivery or pickup.  For directions or additional information please feel free to call the above number or send an e-mail to Jeremysbenefit@yahoo.com.
